Anti- Cuts Rally
Saturday 26th March 2011
Guildhall Square Derry @ 1.30 pm
Organised by Derry and Strabane Trades Union Councils
- On the 26th March there will be a Rally in Guildhall Square to support the Mass Rally in London and hundreds of other demonstrations throughout Britain and N. Ireland to oppose the Public Sector Cuts.
- These cuts are unnecessary and are costing thousands of job losses at a time when the economy needs stimulus.
- Thousands of people are being plunged into poverty while the Speculators and Bankers who created this mess are making huge profits again and the richest in our society still avoid billions in tax.
- Businesses are closing in this City and workers are being thrown on the Dole.
- Youth unemployment in Derry & Strabane is back to late 60 levels.
- Hundreds of mortgages in the North West are now more than six months in arrears and hundreds of families will risk losing their homes.
- If we do not stand up and fight these austerity cuts the situation will only get worse. The great only appear great because we are on our knees. Get of your knees and fight back. Fight back for the old who need our care and respect, the young who need skills, education and a future, for the unemployed who need work, the sick and disabled who need effective and efficient medical care free of charge.
