    Dear Colleague

The NIPSA General Council at its meeting on Friday, 14 October 2011 has decided to ask branches to select this coming Wednesday, 19 October as a day of coordinated activity to persuade members to vote "yes" to both questions on the industrial action ballot paper.

A number of branches have already decided to organise activity on Wednesday and all branches are asked to make a special effort to highlight the need for a resounding "yes" vote for both strike action and action short of strike action.

While it is a matter for branches themselves to determine the most effective means of engaging with members on this issue a new leaflet will be available. This leaflet will give details of the trade unions across the UK including Northern Ireland which are balloting their members for industrial action on 30 November 2011.

Contact can also be made with members through personal contact/visits, organised telephone contact by branch committee members asking individual members to in turn contact other colleagues, leafleting, etc.

It is important that we continue to engage with members during the period of the ballot which ends on 7 November 2011 in order to ensure a good turnout and a "yes" vote.

    Yours sincerely

    BRIAN CAMPFIELD

    General Secretary
