As part of the union’s campaign to defend jobs and public services the NIPSA General Council has agreed to establish networks of local NIPSA representatives across the different sectors in common geographical areas.
As a consequence NIPSA representatives in the Newtownards/Bangor/Cultra area are invited to a meeting at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday, 30 November 2010 in the SIGNAL Centre of Business Excellence, 2 Innotec Drive, Balloo Road, Bangor, BT19 7PD to discuss how best local NIPSA representatives can work together to oppose cuts in public services and jobs.
It is essential that all NIPSA representatives attend this meeting, if possible, given we are facing an onslaught on public services and public service jobs as a result of the policies and decisions of the new Conservative/Liberal Democrat Coalition Government in Westminster. Over the next number of weeks the NI Executive will begin the consultation process on the 2011-2014 budget, which will adversely impact on members in the Newtownards/Bangor/Cultra area and it is important that we can prepare for this.
It would be helpful if you could advise Karen Barrett at NIPSA Headquarters; karen.barrett@nipsa.org.uk by Tuesday, 23 November of who will be attending from your Branch in order to assist the planning and catering arrangements.
Yours sincerely
ALISON MILLAR
Deputy General Secretary
