LGBT Focus Group Meeting on 28 January 2012

At the 2011 NIPSA Conference a motion was endorsed calling for a paper to be brought forward to the 2012 Conference to establish a group within NIPSA which will reflect and cater for the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender (LGBT) members in NIPSA.

At the 2011 NIPSA Conference a motion was endorsed calling for a paper to be brought forward to the 2012 Conference to establish a group within NIPSA which will reflect and cater for the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gender (LGBT) members in NIPSA.
In order to advance the terms of this resolution the NIPSA Equal Opportunities Committee agreed to hold a series of focus groups and invite along LGBT members and other members with an interest in LGBT issues to discuss issues around membership, confidentiality, purpose and goals for the group.
The first focus group was held in Belfast in October last year and we are now running another focus group meeting on Saturday 28 January 2012 from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm in the City Hotel, Queens Quay, Derry, BT48 7AS.
The event will be facilitated by Matthew McDermott and Harriet Long from the Rainbow Project.
We are keen to hear the views of our members who have an interest in this area in order to assist us in formulating our policy paper for Conference this year. We would therefore be grateful if you could ensure this information is circulated as widely as possible.
