Colombia has one of the worst human rights records in the world. The situation has been described as a ‘humanitarian disaster’ by the United Nations and each year tens of thousands of people continue to be murdered, forcibly displaced, tortured, jailed without trial or ‘disappeared’.
Over 2,500 trade unionists have been killed in Colombia in the last 15 years, whilst trying to defend the right to collective bargaining and freedom of speech. Virtually no-one has been arrested and sentenced for crimes committed against trade union members.
Justice for Colombia works to support Colombian trade union and civil society organisations in their campaign for basic human rights and their struggle for peace and social justice. You can help them in their struggle by getting involved in some of their campaigns: www.justiceforcolombia.org.
