NIPSA Continue to Press for Retention of Library Headquarters , Ballynahinch

15/02/2010

Following a successful public meeting last Wednesday night, NIPSA welcomed all the main political parties agreeing to seek a cross party meeting with the Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure, Nelson McCausland, as soon as possible to fight for the Library Headquarters in Ballynahinch to be transformed into the Regional Administrative Headquarters for Libraries NI complementing existing services delivered from that locality.

Alison Millar, Assistant Secretary NIPSA stated:

“It is clear from the large turnout at the NIPSA public meeting last Wednesday night that there is huge support in the town for the retention of the facilities in Library Headquarters. Many community groups, historical societies and political representatives attended the meeting in support of NIPSA’s stance”.

NIPSA also addressed the Board of Libraries NI on Thursday 11 February 2010 to press our case.

Over the coming weeks NIPSA will continue to meet with officers of Libraries NI, political representatives and users to press our case.
