NIPSA is to take its case for Library HQ, Ballynahinch to become the Regional HQ for the new Authority to the next meeting of Down District Council.
NIPSA has been running a campaign to secure the future of Library Headquarters, Ballynahinch since December 2009 when the Board of Libraries NI took the decision to close this service.
NIPSA Deputy General Secretary, Alison Millar, stated
“NIPSA welcomes the offer by Down District Council to listen to our compelling case to secure the existing jobs in Ballynahinch and bring up to a further 40 jobs to the town.
NIPSA will be addressing Council on Monday 22nd March and we are confident the Council will support our case to oppose the closure of Library Headquarters.
The Board of Libraries NI will be considering a recommendation on the future location of Libraries NI HQ in April. NIPSA would call on the Council to actively press for Ballynahinch to become the Regional HQ for Libraries NI and bring vital jobs to the town.”
