  • Tuesday 16 February - outside Woodstock Library – 1.45 -2.15pm
  • Thursday 18 February – outside Ballymacarrett Library - 12.00- 12.30pm

Alison Millar, Assistant Secretary NIPSA stated:-

“NIPSA are holding these protests this week to highlight the proposed closure of both these and other libraries in the Greater Belfast area. To date Libraries NI have held 3 public consultation meetings and the resounding voice of those attending have called clearly and strongly for the retention of their local libraries in the heart of the communities they serve”.

“Libraries NI must listen to the voice of the people and respond positively. On behalf of NIPSA members and the communities these libraries serve I appeal to Libraries NI to respond positively to the consultation held so far and leave these libraries alone”.

Libraries NI are holding 2 further public consultation meeting this week as follows:-

Thursday 18th February – 4.30pm-6.00pm
Chichester Library – 7.15pm-8.45pm

NIPSA would encourage individuals, groups and political representatives to attend the public consultation meetings organised by Libraries NI and make your voice heard.
