Alison Millar, NIPSA Assistant Secretary stated:-
“NIPSA is calling on the public to oppose the Libraries NI decision to move more public sector jobs from the town. Instead NIPSA propose that the Board of Libraries move their Regional Headquarters from temporary premises in 2 sites in Lisburn to Ballynahinch. The running costs of Library Headquarters in Ballynahinch, which Libraries NI own, are commensurate with the cost of the 2 premises in Lisburn.
NIPSA do not believe the premises in Lisburn are suitable and staff are working in cramped conditions. Libraries NI could bring much needed public sector jobs to Ballynahinch. NIPSA estimate 40-50 new jobs could be brought to the town”.
NIPSA has organised the public meeting in the Market House, Ballynahinchon Wednesday 10th February 2010 commencing at 7.30pm.
NIPSA is encouraging everyone to attend and support this worthwhile campaign.
Posters and petitions have been distributed across the town; please take the time to sign the petition which NIPSA will present to the Board of Libraries NI on 11th February 2010 at the Libraries NI Board meeting.
