NIPSA Deputy General Secretary, Alison Millar, stated:
“It is an absolute scandal that the Government has done a u-turn on its promise, given only a couple of weeks ago, that the lowest paid public sector workers would be guaranteed an increase of at least £250 per annum.
While NIPSA believes all public sector workers deserve a decent pay increase this latest development is very worrying for many low paid workers who are relying more and more on the benefits system. It is clear this Government cannot be trusted and are set on punishing the public sector for the failures of city bankers and others in mismanaging the economy.”
