PROTESTS OVER REDUCTION IN SPECIAL NEEDS SUMMER SCHEMES
NIPSA is aware that 3 out of the 5 Education and Library Boards have cut their Summer Scheme provision for children with special needs from 2 weeks to 1 week and in 2 Boards removed Home to School Transport.
Two protests are being held tomorrow, Tuesday 29 June 2010 as follows:-
SELB Headquarters, 11.00 am
The Mall
Armagh
and
Parkview Special School 4.00 pm
Brokerstown Road
Lisburn
NIPSA, Deputy General Secretary, Alison Millar stated:-
“It is absolutely deplorable that this vital service is being withdrawn from the neediest children in our society. NIPSA has raised the matter directly with the Education Minister, CatrĂona Ruane, asking her, together with the Finance Minister, to intervene and ensure the necessary funds are made available to ensure these children and their families get the much needed help and support they require”.
