Unacceptable delay in the payment of 2009 pay increases. NIPSA encourages members to write to MLA’s.

As members will recall it took over 6 months for members to receive their 2008 contractual pay increase which was totally unacceptable.
At a recent meeting of the NIPSA Further Education Panel it was agreed that several steps should be taken immediately to put pressure on a number of quarters for early payment of 2009 pay increases.
NIPSA has raised the matter directly with each College Director urging early implementation. In addition a letter has been sent to the Employment and Learning Committee (copy attached).
NIPSA would also encourage you to send the attached letter to your MLA immediately asking them to raise the matter with the Minister for Employment and Learning, Sir Reg Empey.
NIPSA has also written directly to the Minister seeking his direct intervention to ensure you receive your contractual pay increase as soon as possible and prior to Christmas 2009 at the latest.
If members have any queries or receive responses from your MLA you should forward these to NIPSA via your local NIPSA representatives.
