On Friday 23rd July a meeting was held of the National Joint Council Executive at which the Employers Side made it clear that they did not intend to make a pay offer for 2010 nor did they intend to make any offer in respect of staff earning less than £21,000 per annum. Members will be aware that while the Government announced a 2 year pay freeze they did indicate that staff earning less than £21,000 per annum would receive an increase of £250.
The NJC Trade Unions have sought to move to arbitration on both the substantive pay claim and the £250 payment for those earning under £21,000.
As soon as further information is available a further bulletin will be issued.
In the meantime the issue will be discussed at a Special Meeting of the Public Officers’ Group Executive Committee on 19th August 2010.
Yours sincerely
ALISON MILLAR
Deputy General Secretary
