NJC Pay Claim For 2010

The NJC Trade Unions acknowledged that the claim is modest but considers it to be both realistic and attainable. The Employers Side have not formally responded to the claim and it is likely to be late December/early January before they do so.
It is anticipated that the Employers will seek to resist the claim and already leading figures on the Employers Side have been making very negative statements, such as the Chairperson of the Local Government Association’s Human Resources Panel stating “now is not the time to be even thinking about an ‘inflation-busting pay claim”.
The Public Officers Group Executive Committee will give consideration to both the claim and the need to build support for a fair pay increase for members on the NJC pay spine, at its meeting on 12 November, 2009.
Further information will be issued post the Executive Committee meeting.
