How does NIPSA OperateEach year NIPSA holds its Annual Conferences in late May, attended by delegates nominated by the 220 (approx) Branches of the Union. Conference debates motions submitted by the Branches in order to formulate Union policy. The General Council, which is elected by Members via an individual postal ballot, is then responsible for implementing the policies adopted by Conference. This is actioned by overseeing the work of the Secretariat and managing the work of the Union. CONTROL The structure of NIPSA is based around the 220 (approx) Branches and each individual member is allocated to the Branch that is appropriate to them. Branches are entitled to nominate and send delegates to the relevant Group Conference and to the main NIPSA Conference as well as tabling motions for these Conferences. Branches are also responsible for representing members with Employers and for conducting regulations either directly or via a Departmental Committee, Agency Panel, Employing Authority Panel or on the basis of Occupational Groups. Each individual member of NIPSA through his or her Branch has a direct say in the policy and processes of NIPSA and in the relationship between NIPSA and their employer. SUBSCRIPTIONS For Associates and those on unpaid leave of absence (including career breaks) wishing to continue their membership, the annual subscription is £10.00. This should be paid in a lump sum but, if preferred instalment arrangements can be made.
