OrganisationNIPSA (the Northern Ireland Public Service Alliance) is the largest white collar trade union in Northern Ireland, with a membership of over 42,000 it stands as the largest union in the Province. The objects of NIPSA are:-
NIPSA is organized into two main groups; the Civil Service Group and the Public Officers Group. The Civil Service Group has a membership of over 22,000 which is organised into approximately 150 branches. It caters for civil servants and the staff of public bodies employed on civil service terms and conditions. The Public Officers Group has over 19,000 members organised into approximately 70 branches. It covers employees of Education and Library Boards, Health and Social Services Boards, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, District Councils and a number of other public bodies and voluntary organisations.
