NIPSA Campaign to Oppose £70m Cuts
On the 24th August 2017 all 5 Health and Social Care Trusts in NI took the decision to commence a 6 week consultation on cutting services demanded by the Department of Health.
NIPSA will tirelessly campaign to oppose these cuts and with your support and that of your family, friends and community, will seek to highlight:
The impact this will have on services to patients – non treatment/increased waiting lists/closures of facilities etc.
That the Health Service needs additional funds not cuts.
That a number of the proposals have major equality impacts.
That the proposals will lead to further unsustainable attacks on staff morale. Their health and well being is already under strain due to under investment, increased workloads and not enough staff.
Over the coming weeks a lot of activity will be generated by NIPSA, locally and regionally, to raise awareness of the dire consequences for the sick and vulnerable if these cuts are implemented.
There will be protests, rallies, public meetings and leafleting events where your support is absolutely critical.
As a first step, NIPSA is encouraging you to write to the Chief Executive of your Trust and to the Permanent Secretary of the Department of Health. To assist template letters are provided below. Please read them and if you support what is being said simply print it off, sign it and post it to the Trust and Department respectively.
